This piece ( “ normality is an illusive idea “) emotes the sensation of what the illusion of being “normal“ feels like, in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, associated lockdowns, and secondary losses faced during my parental bereavements.

This work has aided my realisations of grief and how it effects me; particularly the shock and prolonged experience of going through this psychosis-type state; debilitating any sense of self that had once been there, exacerbated by being among strangers, in a new home, returning to work under the stigmatised ‘Occupational Health Assessment’.

It was harder to process cues and stimuli than I once did. Through the grief, the world looked a different colour, energy exchanges more debilitating than empowering, and I didn’t recognise myself; often referred to as Depersonalisation and Derealisation.

The confusion combined with a distinct, lack of ignorance about what can happen to anyone, at anytime, led me here, to this piece.
